Trying Inkwell on for size

I used to be active on LiveJournal back in the day for things like book clubs and general journaling and I really enjoyed the vibe. I had a MySpace for a while but didn't post much on there. Facebook was ok at first, but as we all know it's an absolute shit show now. I've pulled back from most social media platforms big time in recent years and basically just browse Reddit and watch YouTube if I'm online at all. I have a Mastodon account, but I don't use it much. I've never been into the twitter-like platforms.

So I figured I'd give this Inkwell thing a shot. I like long-form posting for expressing my thoughts on books I'm reading or hobbies I'm engaged in, but I feel like Substack is too busy. A simple journal/blog platform like this feels like what I've been missing. So here I am, I'll see where this goes.

This comment made my day! So glad to have you here. Everything you said is spot on. I like to write too, and I'll do it on Facebook and get 1 like. I miss the community and vibe of LiveJournal, Myspace, and the early internet. I'm hoping we can bring it back here!

I’ve also cut back on standard social media, also taking to browsing Reddit when I get the itch. Too many brain-washing algorithms on Facebook to really enjoy it anymore, I miss the days when it was all cat videos and song lyric quotes! I hope you find the space you’ve been seeking here at Inkwell, a book-club style journal sounds interesting, can’t wait for you to share!

Thanks for the replies! I think a lot of us are missing genuine community without all the bots and algorithms pushing ads or an agenda. I can't guarantee how much I'll post, I don't have as much time to read anymore to be able to post my thoughts on what I'm reading, but I try to make time when I can.
