Mixed feelings today. Waking up frustrated about apartment hunting. Too many rigid restrictions. Wants to see my savings, W2’s for 2 years and bank debits from my last landlord. I just want a 1 bedroom apt. Not asking for the Ritz Carlton. This is why NY has over 300k homeless

In today’s adventures in #NY apartment hunting, I avoided a semi-luxury apartment, fixated in a gorgeous roach-infested building for $2500/mo being pitched to me by brokers I couldn’t vet, who sent me the rental application from Gmail addresses 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve contacted 88 properties with interest in their apartment. I’ve heard back from maybe 12 only to get ghosted. Got as far as an application on 2. Scammed by 1. THIS is why New Yorkers don’t move. I shoulda kept my Black ass in my #Brooklyn apartment #NY #citylife

FYI when looking for an apartment in #NY , meeting the broker in person for a tour means nothing. Landlords leave empty units unlocked for ppl to view. Scammers give fake tours, run off with your money. Do your due diligence. Check eAccessNY for their license

Tbf though the 1st apartment I applied to denied me because I have 3 cats. And then I declined one today because although the apartment was gorgeous, I found out the building has a bad roach and rat infestation

Apartments I never rent in #NY : 1st floor: break-ins, noise, drafts, pests Basement: fire trap bc tiny windows, flood, buried in snow, death by drowning Top floor: bake in summer > 7th floor: Firemen can’t rescue you Pick your poison
