Anthropic did the deal with the devil. I’m so disappointed. Claude worked great two weeks ago. This past week, I’ve been ready to lose my mind with all of the outages. I’m over the government and big tech. Does anyone know of a good open-source LLM I can start testing?

I'm not an AI user by principle, but I've heard (and read) that the most usable and advanced open source models are the chinese ones, like DeepSeek.
I was playing with DeepSeek last night. I'm mostly limited by my local Mac (it only has 16 GB of memory). If I wanted to spin up any beefy LLM, I'd need a high-memory/GPU-processing VM. Which isn't in the budget right now. :(
