Interview with Wies: The Process of The Album

Interview with Wies: The Process of The Album

So, as many of you know, I am working on my one and only masterpiece music album. Since a group of people is becoming bigger and asking for more information about this music album, I will share a post here about the creating and making of it. I will update this post when new information comes up, so keep an eye on it! Besides that, I would like to thank you for your support so far!! I really appreciate every moment of interest and interacting with you all!! Let's dive into some questions that were asked multiple times. Looking forward to hear some more!

FAQ's:
Is the music album already out? Are there any songs that we can listen to?
The music album is under construction at the moment. Some covers will be shown on social media - to be announced in 2026 -

Why does it take so long? Why can't you just go to a producer and let it happen?
To create a music album is like an undiscovered journey. You have to fight your way through the journey with your own set of skills and flaws. The music industry has seen many changes lately - this means it affects the circumstances to complete the album.
Think about legal struggles (AI), societal struggles (how to people view music nowadays), and financial struggles after the COVID-19 period. Besides that, make sure there is an attorney involved by signing a contract before signing. Take a look at the terms & conditions before starting the business. Until then, it's okay to take time and figure it out first.
Just hold on and stay curious!

Where do you get your inspiration from? Is it easy to make songs?
Inspiration comes first, then the melody and then the AHA-moment how it all connects together. Sometimes it's a word or a scenary. It comes in the difficult moments and in the peaceful moments. A few examples are sitting on a bench near the station, walking around, cycling or just enjoying the little things. When it 'clicks', I have to run to the worktable to write/record. I do take my time to work on many ideas as possible.

What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to music from all over the world. Growing up exploring eastern, western, northern and southern music has taught me a lot how to understand the influences of music traditions.
Same with specific music genres - they evolve and communicate with society and it really depends what mood I'm in to listen to a specific music genre.

Aren't you a bit of a perfectionist?

That might be. When you have an idea in mind it is still forming until you decide when it is ready. That feeling comes when there is nothing to think about anymore.
Creating songs takes time and effort. It is like building a construction. Start with collecting all kinds of blocks, then sort them out, then build it together and then polish it. Every phase has it's own timing, so even though it seems things can be finished faster, sometimes it takes a lot of tries and finding tools to create the best outcome.
Why didn't you work in music before?
Well, there is something in society that is called gatekeeping.
I have gained a wider perspective and I believe being multi-skilled is a benefit. To learn from different companies and bringing all knowledge together makes it even stronger. It build resilience. And I think I got a lot of inspiration from it which reflects in the songs.
Besides all that, there are a lot of stigmas by society about working in music; unfortunately we still have to mention the gender gap and the healingwork. Although it seems to get more recognised and statistics are written nowadays...
Even so I'm open for opportunities in the music field / creative industry.
Why do you mention 'progress' all the time? We want to see results!
I think results only happen when you can see the complete journey and how it has shaped into it's definite form. Like many artists and people in general, they have ups and down moments of working on their goal. Thereby circumstances, societal pressure and their surrounding can impact the timeframe. I believe that every bit helps to shape the end result of the album. Keep kicking the bucket!

What do you think of AI?
AI reminds me of the synthesizer. I grew up with this instrument without experiencing the revolution or change of music from analoge to digital. Back then there must have been different perspectives as well. Even so, being in this AI revolution time feels the same.

AI is taking away the 'creative proces' in my perspective. The Arts have got a lot of diverse skills in craftmanship and profession. When making music with AI the rights goes to AI instead of the artist. AI takes away the creative process, and so it looks easier although it is more of a digital reality than the reality humans live in. It takes utter strength to work on the creative process and it's very easy to give it out of our own hands. Music is a remembrance of the human soul. I think the joy of 'inventing' and connecting is the strength of the musicians. Think about the development of the musicians, their skills and their performances.

It seems like you don't follow the normal path... Why?
Some composers had a late start, some started too early and some musicians had some struggles along the way. Even the biggest musicians and bands take some years to finish a big masterpiece. Some ideas just don't work, and will either be reinvented or evolve into something that fits better. For example, how much society has improved technology is insane.... I believe that every composer has their own struggles and it gives a wider perspective on how composers deal with it to find their own path.

What does that mean, an independent musician?
I recommend to look up the definition. I do organise my own 'little' concerts so far in agreement with the location. I can only tell you what I have done already in working on the album. I have created the compositions/album songs, the concept of the album story, the concept of the album design, and I made decisions for the logo, font, colours and music style. There is also a lot of research that I have done to find the right persons to help creating the album like the production and other parts of finishing the album. I'm working on a contractform at the moment.

Are you a singer-songwriter?
Hmm... It comes near to musician, guitarist and/or cultural musicologist (ethnomusicology).

Have you studied at the Herman Brood Academy? Have you studied at a music university?
That is a big compliment, thank you. Even so, I did not. Some skills are based on talent and some skills are based on working on the hard things.
