The coder of "The Swan" demo (1996) for #Atari8bit computers, Michael Park, confirmed that the bird is indeed a swan. He hand digitized the bird from a photo sequence found in the Encyclopedia Britannica. Video: https://youtu.be/cGHwMVrlA78 #atari

Since 1980, the year European Countries & Capitals was released for #Atari8bit computers, there have been several changes, such as the number of countries increasing.
