Hello everyone! How's it going? We had a busy evening, Ellie was inducted into the Honor Society tonight. We're proud! I guess she gets it from her mom, she graduated high school at 16, bachelor degree at 19. Meanwhile I spent 20 minutes laughing my ass off at the new American Dad episode earlier. I'll attach the clip that really had me cracking up. The pangolin with the blanket and warm bottle. 😂 I'm a bit juvenile I suppose. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Have a wonderful night! 🌃🌙 I'm going to relax.

I just spent an hour on the phone with my insurance company.
I have a prescription for Dorzolamide eye drops eye drops. One drop in each eye twice a day.
There are 100 drops in a bottle.
My insurance company will not pay for a refill because “30 days is the standard”.
It seems to me that a small child could solve the equation of
4 into 100 = 25 not 3
No one I spoke with at my insurance company could grasp the math behind coming up short.

"I have the right ideas, but my words are too... complicated. I need to simplify them, so that people won't get lost in the dark when they see and hear them. I want them to shine like beacons of light in a world of overly complicated darkness. One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple."

The success of Lenù and The Talented Mr. Rapasso? I was in crisis and then went to therapy. Slowly I returned to the life and body of a 20-year-old girl”: says Margherita Mazzucco.

She gained worldwide popularity thanks to her role as Lenù, one of the protagonists of “My Brilliant Friend,” the series inspired by Elena Ferrante’s novels. Actress Margherita Mazzucco is currently 23 years old, but at the time of the television phenomenon’s boom, she was only 15. Today she presents “The Last Day of Happiness” by debut director Giovanni B. Algieri, but in an interview with La Repubblica, she confessed that it wasn’t certainly easy to bear the “weight” of success.

“I didn’t live it well, especially at the beginning. – she stated – I went through a crisis, fortunately I went into therapy which helped me a lot in these years. Slowly I returned to the life and body of a twenty-year-old girl. My family has always been close to me, this was fundamental, but it was also important to recreate a group of friendships that I had lost. The first year was hard, then I started to feel better.”

The future is mapped out: “In the meantime, finish this university that I really like. I feel I have many paths open before me, before I thought I would be an actress and nothing more, even though I had doubts about whether it was really my destiny. Today I feel more free, studying the history of cinema I am becoming more passionate about it, but above all I feel back with my peers.”

And finally: “Today I am serene. I am happy with this path I have taken and I would like to continue according to my own timeline. I have grown up very quickly and now I like to do things at the right moment. The dream I am cultivating now is directing. We’ll see when.”

"The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be."

is new coffee place in I had seen Napoly coffee being built and always am so happy to find a new place on this side of town. It’s clean and beautiful with nice chairs and decent coffee prices.

I think originally from Vietnam. I was just thinking of there so going to a place lets me revel in the memories. Gonna be a nice day. Walking felt so good here. Bought some cheap pastries. $0.25 for two. Don’t know if I can afford that 😀.

Next thing you know I’ll write a blog post about coffee. Totally possible. We are blessed here with a wonderful coffee culture. I do miss Hanoi and a few spots I will get back to plus thousands more. It’s said there is a coffee shop on every corner in Hanoi. I believe it. Here we have the little coffee shacks. It’s all the best.

Been for a walk down the Bude canal. J drops me and the dog off at one end, does her shopping thing, and collects us at the other end after a 4km-ish walk. Lovely afternoon for it.

The smell of wild garlic in the canal path adjacent woodlands, a hunting heron, lots of canada geese, and moorhen, and I heard the sound of a chiffchaff, the first I've heard this year.

Decidedly springy then.

Also there is a 250 metre section of the canal with water vole traps stationed every 4 metres or so on both sides. Apparently they're doing some work on the canal banks soon that would disturb them, so they're trying to catch as many as they can to keep them safe during the work, then release them back afterwards.

Well...I tried to do an outdoor ride here today but darn, going into a 30 mph wind was just too much for my right thigh so I had to call it at about 6 miles and that never happens...but I'm going to keep my eye on the wind and see if I can get out later...I did put the top down on the car running errands and it was fun even though it's not 50 degrees here...but the car has a great heater so I was pretty comfy...all of the ice is gone from Muskegon Lake...good morning!

"Hemingway hated me. I sold 200 million books, and he didn’t. Of course most of mine sold for 25 cents, but still… you look at all this stuff with a grain of salt."

Hello everyone, happy DST day if you suffer under it! We've been busy today. After 3 hours of fence building and planting in the back this morning the girls took me out for birthday lunch at the new Pink Margarita Mexican restaurant by our house. It was pretty good and they offered some interesting fusion options with other cultures. Then I transplanted the succulents I got yesterday for $2 a piece into these pots I got for $0.46 a piece. Great deals.

Have a wonderful evening!

Good morning. It started off this morning with an all encompassing low visibility mist, which I'm glad to say is gradually clearing to... low grey cloud.

Ah well, don't want it too bright and sunny today as I'm planning to trim down the nearly three metre tall laurel hedge, which ideally should be two metres tall again when I've finished. Pretty much last chance to do it this year, so dim but dry will do nicely.

I suspect if I can get that all done (it's about twenty metres long) then that'll be me done in for the day.

This afternoon with the grandchildren was a bit mixed.
The museum we were intending to go to had a wedding in progress, so was closed to the public.

We went to the main Leicester museum (New Walk) which we knew would be partially closed for rebuilding - I think they enjoyed it.

The problem was then we had a long walk in to town - which my wife struggles with.

We got to the intended café and had some food - milkshakes for starters! Because they cocked up in the kitchen and we were waiting for ages - we got the main courses for free! (Which was serious overkill on their part, but free food? Why not!)

We had a 15 minute wait for the bus back, but it wasn't too cold and there's a small playground by the stop.

Eldest of the two has a really bad cough which has been hanging around for ages, and is clearly unwell - parents are going to be told firmly to get her to the GP.
She says she's having an early night.

Good afternoon. Grey, but dry currently - I'll mention the dry bit again. Hurrah.

Have managed a good walk and a few more garden chores. Now officially knocking off in order to half-watch all the afternoon's sporting endeavours.

Not the cycling though sadly - would have really loved to watch the Strade Bianchi but it's gone all rip-off pricing.
