#WordWeavers Mar 17 - Did you ever receive formal education in creative writing?
Only a short online course in screenplay writing by the University of East Anglia. I quite enjoyed it and I learned a useful technique for pitching ideas ... but still haven't sold a screenplay though. 🤔
#WordWeavers - Is selling your work for money important to you when you write?
I've never sold my work. I write bc I have something I want to say, bc there's a story that has to be told, or bc I want to share an idea. Money, idgaf.
Tbh it would be like being paid for sex, okay? Turn something fun into a job and a chore. No thank u.

Is selling your work for money important to you when you write?
Not while writing, but after.
Well, for a few days that is…
In general, money isn't that important anymore as it was a few years ago.
So, I'm not desperate to become a billionaire.
#WordWeavers If you need to share an important piece of history or lore what is your approach that avoids info dumping?
Depends. Sometimes a quick "this is this" works better than having characters do an "As you know, Bob" conversation, sometimes it's more natural to have the characters talk about it. Depends on the character and whether their knowledge would naturally let them have that discussion. Eg, it always bugged in CSI when one scientist would tell another what DNA was.

How do you approach stereotypes while creating characters?
I put stereotypes in where they fit, even strong ones. But only to support the story, I will never mock someone even if they're not real.
