🌷 Happy Women's Day! Meet Minna Canth. Yes, pronounced almost like that other word. And honestly? Perfect. She gave the patriarchy exactly the kind of energy it deserved since 1844.

Finland's original feminist and playwright, she fought for women's and workers' rights when most people thought a woman's biggest choice was which apron to wear. Her plays were so sharp they made the establishment sweat. She was the first Finnish woman to have her own flag day (March 19th).

"Kun naiset ovat suljetut riveistä pois, on silloin toinen puoli ihmiskuntaa lamassa, ja luonnollisesti toinenkin puoli semmoisesta epäsuhtaisesta tilasta kärsii."

Roughly translated as: "When women are left out of the ranks, half of humanity is held back, and naturally, the other half suffers from this imbalance."
– Minna Canth, 1844-1897
