March 12, 2026. Fresh supply shocks from the Middle East conflict are accelerating the Bank of Japan's hawkish agenda, intensifying inflation risks. Four sources indicate another rate hike could come as early as April.
BOJ's focus is shifting from growth support to inflation control — a departure from its traditional priority. Market pricing reflects approximately 60% probability of an April move.
Underlying inflation already approaches 2%. Firms expect 2.4% inflation in five years. Households forecast 9.8% over the same period. Labor shortages are driving the largest wage increases in 34 years.
Governor Ueda warns the conflict could harm Japan's economy through worsening terms of trade, while also pushing up core inflation.

A stunningly beautiful 35th anniversary reissue of an #ambient #electronic classic, and the perfect record to help wind down a busy Sunday into peace and quiet.
This is my favorite of the Japanese rock / #newage artist; an album that is sometimes referred to as “aquatic ambient” music.
It is very calm, spacious, meditative and slow, like you were floating in embryonic fluid, or slowly floating through lush colors while scuba diving. Best way I can explain it.
Almost the entire album was composed using a Yamaha DX Series FM #synthesizer ; perfect for chimes, warm digital pads, and harp plucks.
Just a gorgeous perfect record, and tailor made for any time you need to chill out and get serene.
HIGHLY recommended.

The only nationwide baseball league for women existed for a decade in Japan, and promoted the pastime to young people.
Sadly, it isn't around anymore, but some of the most exciting players in the game were part of the JWBL during their brief history.
Founded as the GPBL in 2009, the name changed in 2012 to JWBL. 2019 was the final season for women's professional baseball.
