Il Fatto Quotidiano: Il Papa all’Angelus: “Dall’Iran e dal Medio Oriente notizie che destano profonda costernazione. Cessi il suono delle bombe”

“Dall’Iran e da tutto il Medio Oriente continuano a aggiungere notizie che destano profonda costernazione: agli episodi di violenza e devastazione e al diffuso clima di odio e paura, si aggiunge il timore che il conflitto si allarghi e altri paesi della regione, tra cui il caro Libano, possano sprofondare nuovamente l’instabilità”. Così Papa Leone XIV all’Angelus ha rinnovato il suo appello: “Cessi il fragore delle bombe, tacciano le armi e si apra uno spazio di dialogo nel quale si possa sentire la voce dei popoli”. Il Pontefice ha quindi pregato la Madonna: “Affido questa supplica a Maria, regina della pace. Interceda per coloro che soffrono a causa della guerra e accompagni i cuori lungo sentieri di riconciliazione e speranza”.
Gesù “è attento” e ascolta la samaritana, la protagonista del Vangelo di oggi, “senza secondi fini e senza disprezzo”, ha poi aggiunto. “Quante persone cercano nella Chiesa questa stessa delicatezza, questa disponibilità! E come è bello quando perdiamo il senso del tempo per dare attenzione a chi incontriamo, così com’è”. E ha concluso: “Chiediamo oggi di poter servire, con Gesù e come Gesù, l’umanità assetata di verità e di giustizia. Non è il tempo delle contrapposizioni tra un tempio e l’altro, tra noi e gli altri: gli adoratori che Dio cerca sono uomini e donne di pace, che lo adorano in Spirito e verità”,.
Quanto alle donne, in occasione della festa dell’8 marzo il Pontefice chiede ai fedeli di rinnovare “l’impegno che per noi cristiani è fondato sul Vangelo per il riconoscimento della pari dignità dell’uomo e della donna. Purtroppo – ha aggiunto Papa Leone -, molte donne fin dall’infanzia sono ancora discriminate e subiscono varie forme di violenza. A loro, in modo speciale, va la mia solidarietà e la mia preghiera“.

From Iran and throughout the Middle East, news continues to emerge that causes deep sorrow: alongside episodes of violence and devastation and the widespread climate of hatred and fear, there is the fear that the conflict will expand and other countries in the region, including the dear Lebanon, may once again plunge into instability. Thus, Pope Leo XIV, in his Angelus address, renewed his appeal: “Silence the roar of the bombs, let the weapons fall silent, and create a space for dialogue in which the voices of the peoples can be heard.” The Pontiff then prayed to the Madonna: “I entrust this plea to Mary, queen of peace. Intercede for those who suffer because of war and guide hearts along paths of reconciliation and hope.”

Jesus “is attentive” and listens to the Samaritan, the protagonist of today’s Gospel, “without ulterior motives and without disdain,” he added. “How many people seek in the Church this same delicacy, this availability! And how beautiful it is when we lose a sense of time to give attention to those we meet, as it is.” And he concluded: “Today we ask to be able to serve, with Jesus and as Jesus, humanity thirsting for truth and justice. It is not a time for confrontations between one temple and another, between us and others: the adorers that God seeks are men and women of peace, who adore him in spirit and in truth.”

Regarding women, on the occasion of the 8th of March feast, the Pontiff asks the faithful to renew “the commitment that for us Christians is based on the Gospel for the recognition of the equal dignity of man and woman. Unfortunately – added Pope Leo – many women are still discriminated against and subjected to various forms of violence since childhood. To them, in particular, goes my solidarity and my prayer.”
