When you are exploring the feed, the pages should feel like journal pages and scroll left to right instead of top to bottom.
The editor now has a focus mode toggle in the toolbar. Click it (or look for the expand icon at the end of the toolbar) to hide the navigation bar, footer, cover image section, mood/music strip, and entry settings — leaving just the title, toolbar, and writing area. Press Esc to exit focus mode anytime. Write without distractions!
The editor now shows a live word count as you write, and published entries display an estimated reading time ("X min read") on feed cards and the entry detail page. Word count is computed server-side at save time and stored for fast display. Reading time is calculated at 200 words per minute.
Import options are now available under profile settings!
Bookmarks have been added. Save your favorite writings for later!
Writing Letters have been implemented. Send letters (DMs) to your friends when you want a private chat.

The Comic Sans font doesn’t appropriately display when selected as the chosen font. :)
Reddit user inquired: Any plans to have data import options from other (legacy) blogging platforms? Great idea and want to implement!
As a writer, I want to see a live word count and estimated reading time while writing and on published entries so I can gauge the length and scope of my work. Specifically: a live word count in the editor toolbar that updates as I type, and a "X min read" indicator shown on published entry cards and the entry detail page, calculated at around 200 words per minute.
As a writer, I want a full-screen distraction-free writing mode that hides all navigation and UI chrome so I can focus entirely on writing without visual interruptions. Similar to iA Writer or Bear's focus mode — a clean canvas with just the text editor, a word count in the corner, and a minimal toolbar that fades out while typing. Could be toggled with a keyboard shortcut (e.g. Cmd+Shift+F) or a button in the editor toolbar.
Create a feature called Bookmarks that lets readers save where they left off or save particularly interesting reads. Since we don't have algorithms, if the platform grows, there will be too many posts to read easily. If readers want to read everything under a specific category or even the main explore feed in general, it will be helpful to have bookmarks so they can save where they left off.
A few screens still do not fit correctly on mobile (I.e. journal entry and admin page).
Journal entry stamps are being cut off on UI. Need to make sure the stamp options show up.
As a user, I want to send and receive private messages with my pen pals so I can have personal conversations outside of public journal entries and guestbooks. Suggestion: call them 'letters' instead of 'messages'.
Right now, submitting feedback is hidden under the roadmap, but most users may not know what the word " roadmap " means. We need to add a "submit feedback" button at the bottom right or left of each page while we are in Beta (and potentially longer). It would be great if it were smart enough to capture any recent issues: if an error occurs on the site or something doesn't work correctly, it logs the issue and guides the user to submit feedback with the error details.
All instances of Inkwell should have the 'I' capitalized.
I've been making additions and changes to the roadmap, and I've been logged out twice. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the roadmap, or if I'm making changes to the system while I'm working in it, but I need to figure out why this is happening. We already implemented ways to stay signed in, but it looks like it may not be working correctly. Need to troubleshoot.
On the mastodon post that shows up under explore, any comments added are not showing up. There are no comments on the other posts, as they are all mine, so I'm not sure whether they are affected. We need to ensure comment counts are showing up properly.
My Chappel Roan video upload post has extra white space after making changes to site width and height. Need to investigate and resolve.
As an admin reviewing community feedback I want to assign a value score and priority level to each feedback post after evaluating it So that I can track which ideas have the most community impact and which are quickest to ship, helping the team prioritize development work Acceptance Criteria: Admin can set two fields on any feedback post (visible only to admins initially): Priority: Low / Medium / High / Critical (visual badges/colors for quick scanning) Value Score: 1-10 slider (reflects estimated user impact, urgency, or business value) These fields appear on the feedback detail page in an "Admin Assessment" section (locked to admin view only) Value & priority are editable — admin can change them as the roadmap evolves Feedback list view (in admin dashboard) can be sorted/filtered by: Priority level (e.g., "Show me all Critical items") Value score range (e.g., "8-10 only") Timestamp shows when value/priority was last updated and by which admin Assigning value/priority does not send a notification to the user (internal admin tool only) Keyboard shortcuts or batch actions allow quick triage (optional enhancement: "Select multiple posts → set priority to High")
As a feedback author I want to be notified when someone comments on my feedback or upvotes it So that I can engage with the community discussion and see if my idea is getting traction Acceptance Criteria: New comment notification includes commenter name and preview of comment text Upvote notifications are batched (e.g., "3 people upvoted your feedback") rather than 1:1 Notifications appear in-app and optionally via email Comment notifications are sent to all involved commenters (thread participants), not just the OP User can disable comment/upvote notifications in settings
As a feedback submitter I want to receive a notification when an admin changes my feedback status (e.g., from "Under Review" → "Planned") So that I know my idea is being taken seriously and can track progress without manually checking Acceptance Criteria: Notification triggers on status transitions (new→under_review, under_review→planned, →in_progress, →done, →declined) Notification includes the new status and (optionally) admin's reason Notification appears in the in-app bell icon + email (if user has email notifications enabled) User can disable these notifications in settings Admins leaving an admin_response also triggers a notification
As a user reporting a bug or requesting a feature I want to attach files, screenshots, or logs to my feedback post So that I can provide the context admins need to understand and reproduce issues without back-and-forth emails Acceptance Criteria: Users can upload up to 3 files (images, PDFs, text logs) up to 5MB each File attachments persist and are visible on the feedback post detail page Only the feedback author and admins can delete attached files File list shows upload timestamp and file size Mobile-friendly file picker
