A “bright flying object” was sighted over the Bundeswehr hangar shortly before 19:00, an airport spokesperson told Tagesspiegel. There was initially no indication on the airport’s website of the brief suspension of operations. Several unidentified flying object incidents have occurred in recent months at airports. For example, in November, Berlin Airport had to temporarily suspend operations due to a drone alarm. Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz has accused Russia of being behind numerous recent sightings of drones on sensitive sites in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, including airports, military bases, and power plants.
