This is not a joke — it's real news from March 11, 2026.

The Pentagon has barred independent press photographers (including Associated Press, Reuters, and Getty) from covering Pete Hegseth's briefings on the Iran war. The reason cited internally: his team deemed some photographs from the March 2 briefing "unflattering."

Photographers were excluded from briefings on March 4 and March 10. Only Pentagon staff photographers are now permitted to cover these events.

The Washington Post first reported this. The Independent, Daily Mail, Daily Beast, AP, and others have followed. The Pentagon officially denies the "unflattering photo" motivation, but multiple sources confirm the ban on independent photographers.

Do not spread these photos.

Feeding LLMs training data via theft is one thing. I'm pretty amazed at this @niemanlab piece about Grammarly's "expert advice" given in the name of people ... who haven't authorized it but "inspired" it:
