Così Elly Schlein ha aperto il suo intervento in dichiarazione di voto alla Camera dopo le comunicazioni della premier in vista del prossimo Consiglio Ue nonché sulla crisi in Medioriente.
Parlando di un appello all’unità “arrivato in ritardo”, Schlein ha chiesto a Meloni di essere più decisa sul Medio Oriente. “Lei ha detto che ‘non condanna né condivide’ e ci ha messo 12 giorni per dire che questi attacchi sono fuori dal diritto internazionale. Bene, ora dica che escludete, anche se ve lo chiedono, l’autorizzazione all’utilizzo delle basi militari in Italia per sostenere gli attacchi illegali all’Iran di Trump. Lei si è contraddetta. La Spagna ha escluso qualsiasi supporto, perché lei non lo fa? Il contesto può cambiare, ciò che non cambia è il diritto internazionale”, ha detto la segretaria dem invitando il governo ad avere il “coraggio di dire anche agli alleati irrinunciabili quando si sbagliano“.
Nel suo intervento la leader dem ha anche chiesto di voler “sapere come sosterrete l’economia dalle conseguenze di questa guerra. Oltre ai danni della guerra commerciale di Trump con i dazi si aggiungono infatti i costi delle sue azioni militari. Noi abbiamo fatto una proposta sulle accise mobili. Abbiamo apprezzato la sua apertura, ma non ha fatto niente. E le persone in fila per la benzina hanno già pagato oltre due euro al litro e il carrello della spesa è salito di più del 20%. Siete sempre in tempo – ha quindi concluso il ragionamento – ad approvare il salario minimo”

Speaking of a call for unity “that arrived late,” Schlein urged Meloni to be more decisive regarding the Middle East. “She said she ‘doesn’t condemn or share’ and it took her 12 days to say that these attacks are outside the bounds of international law. Well, now say that you exclude, even if asked, authorization for the use of military bases in Italy to support Trump’s illegal attacks on Iran. She’s been contradictory. Spain has excluded any support, because you don’t do it? The context can change, but what doesn’t change is international law,” said the Democratic Party secretary, urging the government to have the “courage to tell even our most indispensable allies when they are wrong.”
In her remarks, the Democratic leader also asked to “know how you will support the economy from the consequences of this war. Il Tycoon nella sua telefonata con il quotidiano di via Solferino sottolinea il clima disteso con Palazzo Chigi durante la recente crisi e la sintonia che domina con Roma. Approva la strategia scelta dal premier dall'invio della fregata della marina militare al largo di Cipro, a quello dell'invio negli Emirati Arabi Uniti della batteria antimissile Samp/T e dei sistemi anti-drone in Kuwait e Qatar. Il presidente non si limita ad elogiare ma riconosce l'Italia quale alleato della Casa Bianca. Una promozione a pieni voti.
D'altro canto striglia con forza le altre cancellerie europee: "Ce ne ricorderemo, non abbiamo bisogno di gente che si unisce alle Guerre dopo che abbiamo già vinto!" dice laconico il presidente. Trump infatti non è soddisfatto degli altri partner europei, soprattutto di Londra e del premier Keir Starmer. Attriti che riportano indietro all'inizio della guerra con l'Iran. Trump aveva già largamente criticato Londra scrivendo sui propri social: "Il Regno Unito, una volta un nostro Grande Alleato, forse il più Grande di tutti, finalmente sta prendendo in seria considerazione di mandare due portaerei in Medio Oriente. Va bene, primo ministro Starmer, non ci servono più".
Toni del tutto simili a quelli riservati per la Spagna di Pedro Sánchez, con cui nelle ultime settimane la tensione è arrivata alle stelle tanto da far arrivare Washington a minacce di ritorsioni commerciali. Durante la prima uscita ai media italiani è stato ribadito il messaggio già espresso dal portavoce della Casa Bianca, Karoline Leavitt: "Trump si aspetta la collaborazione da Paesi europei".

It is an insult to the intelligence to see how International Law is ignored when the actors are "friends". The result is a world where, if you have enough military or financial power, laws are merely suggestions. It seems that, for now, only isolated voices such as those from Spain or Ireland are trying to maintain a values-based consistency, at the risk of suffering direct economic retaliation from the Trump administration.
