Prima fa un annuncio rilevante sui social, tanto da provocare una corsa al ribasso del prezzo del petrolio. Poi però cancella il post perché quella notizia, in realtà, non è vera. Il protagonista di questa vicenda è il ministro dell’Energia degli Stati Uniti, Chris Wright. “La Marina Usa ha scortato con successo una petroliera attraverso lo Stretto di Hormuz per assicurare che il petrolio continui ad arrivare ai mercati globali”, ha annunciato in un post su X aggiungendo che “il presidente Trump sta mantenendo la stabilità dell’energia globale durante le operazioni militari contro l’Iran”.
Il fatto che gli Stati Uniti siano riusciti a sbloccare, anche se solo per una prima petroliera, lo stop imposto dall’Iran nello stretto strategico per i flussi di petrolio mondiali, non è una notizia irrilevante. Tanto che immediatamente il prezzo del petrolio ha subito un crollo arrivando a perdere il 15% nell’arco di pochi minuti: dopo aver sfondato quota 100 dollari, il greggio ha raggiunto gli 80 dollari al barile.
La reazione entusiasta dei mercati deve però fare i conti con la realtà. Pochi minuti dopo infatti lo stesso ministro Wright cancella il post. Semplicemente perché la notizia è falsa. A dichiararlo è la stessa portavoce della Casa Bianca: gli Stati Uniti “non hanno scortato una petroliera” nello Stretto di Hormuz, ha dichiarato Karoline Leavitt. Anche una fonte del Pentagono, interpellata dal New York Times, ha dovuto smentire il ministro. Pure i Guardiani della rivoluzione iraniani hanno replicato a Wright con toni poco concilianti: “Nessuna delle navi da guerra statunitensi durante la guerra ha osato avvicinarsi al Mar di Oman, al Golfo Persico e allo Stretto di Hormuz”, hanno fatto sapere i Pasdaran. Così l’accelerazione del calo del greggio si è arrestata: il prezzo del petrolio rimane ancora più alto del 15% rispetto all’inizio della guerra.

The main figure in this story is the U.S. Energy Secretary, Chris Wright. “The U.S. Navy successfully escorted a tanker through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure that oil continues to reach global markets,” he announced in a post on X, adding that “President Trump is maintaining global energy stability during military operations against Iran.”
The fact that the United States was able to unblock, even for just one tanker, the halt imposed by Iran in the strategic waterway for global oil flows is not insignificant news. Consequently, the price of oil immediately plummeted, losing 15% in a matter of minutes: after breaking the $100 mark, crude oil reached $80 per barrel.
The enthusiastic reaction of the markets must, however, take into account reality. Just a few minutes later, the same Minister Wright deletes the post. Simply because the news is false. This is confirmed by the White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt: “The United States did not escort a tanker” in the Strait of Hormuz, she stated. Even a Pentagon source, questioned by the New York Times, had to deny the minister. The Revolutionary Guard of Iran also responded to Wright with little conciliatory tones: “None of the U.S. warships during the war dared to approach the Sea of Oman, the Persian Gulf, and the Strait of Hormuz,” announced the Pasdaran. Thus, the acceleration of the drop in crude oil stopped: the price of oil remains still more than 15% higher than at the beginning of the war.

Approva la strategia scelta dal premier dall'invio della fregata della marina militare al largo di Cipro, a quello dell'invio negli Emirati Arabi Uniti della batteria antimissile Samp/T e dei sistemi anti-drone in Kuwait e Qatar. Il presidente non si limita ad elogiare ma riconosce l'Italia quale alleato della Casa Bianca. Una promozione a pieni voti.
D'altro canto striglia con forza le altre cancellerie europee: "Ce ne ricorderemo, non abbiamo bisogno di gente che si unisce alle Guerre dopo che abbiamo già vinto!" dice laconico il presidente. Trump infatti non è soddisfatto degli altri partner europei, soprattutto di Londra e del premier Keir Starmer. Attriti che riportano indietro all'inizio della guerra con l'Iran. Trump aveva già largamente criticato Londra scrivendo sui propri social: "Il Regno Unito, una volta un nostro Grande Alleato, forse il più Grande di tutti, finalmente sta prendendo in seria considerazione di mandare due portaerei in Medio Oriente. Va bene, primo ministro Starmer, non ci servono più".
Toni del tutto simili a quelli riservati per la Spagna di Pedro Sánchez, con cui nelle ultime settimane la tensione è arrivata alle stelle tanto da far arrivare Washington a minacce di ritorsioni commerciali. Durante la prima uscita ai media italiani è stato ribadito il messaggio già espresso dal portavoce della Casa Bianca, Karoline Leavitt: "Trump si aspetta la collaborazione da Paesi europei".

Fine, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need you anymore.”
Tone entirely similar to those reserved for Spain’s Pedro Sánchez, with which tensions have reached fever pitch in recent weeks, leading Washington to threats of trade retaliation.
